"Hues of The Hudson" - A Documentary about Hudson River Artists

Painting by Frederic Edwin Church (1826 – 1900) an Artist of the Hudson River School

The Hudson River Valley is a place of beautiful seasonal contrasts. There are gorgeous views of the Catskill and Adirondack mountains as well as the tremendous expanse of the ever flowing Hudson River. This was the place where many early 19th century American artists gravitated to paint landscapes. So many shared this common aesthetic vision that they became known as the Hudson River School .

My son John is a senior at Marist College in Poughkeepsie which is in the Hudson River Valley of New York State. He is a communications major with a specialization in Radio, TV and Film. He aspires to work in the Film industry upon graduation in the Spring of 2009. He is also a talented writer. John has just finished a documentary on the present Hudson Valley Art Community, "Hues of the Hudson" which explores the reasons artists live in the area, what characteristics the community has and what problems it faces as it continues on into the future. I invite you to check it out and feel free to leave comments for him!
