Fabulous Friday Food Feature ~ Buying Local

There are so many benefits to buying food locally. It is fresher than what you would find in the grocery store and it is great for your local economy. Participate in your local and state agri-business. Support your farmers and help them stay in business. Visit the Local Harvest / Farmers Market website and find farmers' markets, family farms, and other sources of sustainable food in your area, where you can buy organic produce, grass-fed meats, and many other tasty foods. Click on the banner above to be taken to their website.

We buy at our local farmer's market all the time for the best in fresh and quality.

We have a farmers market every Friday, I love all of the fresh fruits and veggies! We even have crafters that come out and sell their wares so it's a double bonus!

I'm glad to see the Buy Local movement gain so much ground. Here in Asheville, our farmer's markets are a Saturday event- it's fun to see who is there. I especially love buying cruelty free meats, farm eggs, local honey, natural soaps- there is so much more than just great produce!

You are so right...this is something I really need to do more often. Can imagine how many nutrients veggies and fruits lose by the time we buy them in our supermarket !
