National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week - November 15-21, 2009

  • One of the fastest growing segments of the homeless populations is families with children. In some Cities, family requests for emergency assistance rose as much as 15% in one year.
  • At least 1.35 million children are homeless during the year; 200,000 are homeless on any given day.
  • 200,000 veterans are homeless, and 400,000 veterans will experience homelessness during the course of a year.
Each year, one week before Thanksgiving, The National Coalition for the Homeless and the National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness co-sponsor National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. During this week, a number of schools, communities and cities take part in a nationwide effort to bring greater awareness to the problems of hunger and homelessness. Thank you for the info regarding National Hunger and Homelessness week Miss Seasonal. I have such a heart for the homeless! Each Traveling Teacup party I give will donate 10% of my proceeds to our local shelter "Hospitality House".
It just makes me crazy to know people don't have a safe place to lay their head at night!!!
