Thinking Green - Make Your Own Fire Logs

Here's a great use for old newspapers. Recycle them into "logs" for your fireplace.
  1. Roll newspaper sheets around a stick like a mop or broomstick, until the log the size you like and then soak the log in water.
  2. Dry the log overnight, remove the broomstick, and use like ordinary wood.
  3. Remember to use care when burning anything in your fireplace or fire pit.
You can also purchase this Newspaper Log Roller pictured below. This makes it even easier to create your own logs and keep the fire burning, just tightly roll those old newspapers into freshly cut newspaper logs.

I tried one of those log rollers (though a sightly different design) and had to give up in the end. So frustrating to use. Doing them round a pole sounds such a better idea. Alternatively you can buy them from the supermarket at £1 each, wrapped in a pretty piece of paper advertsising them as 'Fire starter packs'. A good con trick.
