Thinking Green

A Danish eco-hotel offers a free meal for a just a small bit of pedal power. The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Copenhagen is promoting a great idea of "eco-fitness" getting people fit and at the same time reducing their carbon footprint. The bikes are attached to generator with each guest required to produce at least 10 watts of electricity, approximately 15 minutes of cycling for the average person. Cyclists are then given meal vouchers worth $36 which is about 26 euros or £23. You can even attach your iPhone to the handlebars to measure how much power is being generated for the hotel. Wouldn't this be great if we could recreate this idea as a source of power in our homes! Read the original article by clicking on the photo above.
