Thinking Green - Flip-Top Tote

I love the utilitarian look of this bag- fashionably silver and so chic! Great for the environment since it is created using flip tops from aluminum cans. Check out the Internet site VivaTerra for more interesting goods!

Monday Musings

I discovered the artist, Ying Zhao Liu, while visiting Provincetown, Massachusetts last Fall. His oil still life paintings are truly amazing and looked like perfect photographs. I found this slideshow by artodyssey1 on the Internet that has a nice selection of his work. If you prefer to simply look at his work up close and personal, click on this link: Ying Zhao Liu

Monday Musings

Something to think about:
The Wall Street bailout is costing taxpayers around $700 billion and growing. Yet, just 4% of the Wall Street bailout could end world hunger. Though the problem is often touted as insurmountable, in truth, global food insecurity could be completely solved by creating agricultural programs that would cost about $30 billion a year. 854 million people in the world – one in seven – do not get enough food to be healthy, making hunger the number one risk to health worldwide.

How about a vertical garden? Joost Bakker is an accomplished Australian, floral artist and is the creator of very unique and sustainable homes. This particular photo above is part of a home he built for his family. The house has over 11,000 terra-cotta pots around it's exterior. During the summer, the pots are a working garden filled with strawberries. Now that is fresh fruit! Click on the photo above to be taken to his website.
