Thinking Green
I read somewhere recently that the length of the average termite is 1/4", seemingly small except when it comes to the mounds they create (also known as "termitaria"), which can be up to 30 feet high. Apparently among some it is providing inspiration for the potential of creating energy efficient buildings and through some creative engineering perhaps even some solutions to such problems as climate change. Check out Peter Miller's new book The Smart Swarm. Be sure to also check out this interesting blog post on Greener Design on how termites inspired architect Mick Pearce's Green Buildings. Monday Musings
The greatest worth is self-mastery.
The greatest quality is seeking to serve others.
The greatest precept is continual awareness.
The greatest medicine is the emptiness of everything.
The greatest action is not conforming with the world's ways.
The greatest action is transmuting the passions.
The greatest generosity is non-attachment.
The greatest goodness is a peaceful mind.
The greatest patience is humility.
The greatest effort is not concerned with results.
The greatest meditation is a mind that lets go.
The greatest wisdom is seeing through appearances.
