Saturday Food Feature ~


I'm am so tired of winter and snow. Yet it continues to fall from the sky.....so just like in summer when we "turn lemons into lemonade", in winter, let's turn snow into snow cream - a delicious dessert made from snow.

Snow Cream Basic Recipe
1 cup half and half
1/2 cup sugar
scant 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
large bowl of snow (about 3 quarts - make sure it's very clean and not near where animals tread)

Blend milk, sugar and vanilla. Stir in enough snow to make snow cream to an ice cream consistency.In a separate bowl, mix cream, sugar and vanilla. Slowly add snow to desired consistency. Eat and enjoy! Variations - such as substitute canned cream for milk for a heavier flavor. Add Nestles Quik for a chocolate snow cream, or use instant cocoa mix. Another variation is to add raisins, nuts, chocolate chips, caramel, butterscotch or cinnamon. You can also add puree fruit. Whatever motivates your taste-buds!
