In the Studio ~ DIY Succulent Terrarium

Create your own Succulent Terrarium:
  • Choose succulents that you would like to use in your terrarium with a variety of foliage and textures.
  • Select a container. Remember to choose a container with a wide opening to prevent accumulation of moisture. Chipped teacups, bowls, etc.

  • Place a 2-inch layer of gravel on the bottom of container to provide drainage.
  • Place a layer of cactus mix soil, which is a fast-draining soil that retains little moisture.
  • Remove plants from pots and place roots in soil.
  • Add layer of sand and then add accents, such as ceramic or glass mushrooms or other woodland creatures; larger sea or river rocks.

Care Tips
  • Put terrarium in area of direct sunlight for at least five or six hours.
  • Water the terrarium about every two weeks.
  • The water should freely drain to the bottom so that after you water, there should not be more than an inch of water visible in the bottom.
  • Fertilize occasionally (usually  in the Spring, Summer or Fall).

I love the result!
